Valentine’s Viagra

Valentine’s day is here and it’s apparently the most romantic day of the year. It’s not that you shouldn’t show your love and affection to those special in your life the other 364 days of the year, but if there’s any day at all to do so, it’s February 14.

It may be a day associated with romance and love but there’s no arguing that it’s the retailers and other businesses that benefit the most from Valentine’s day – One reason a lot of us choose not to celebrate the day at all (31.2% of us did not celebrate Valentine’s day last year).
Over £650 million was expected to be spent on Valentine’s gifts in the U.K alone last year, and that is expected to increase again this year, making it the biggest spending retail event in the first of the year.

Of all Valentine’s spending, food & drink was the most popular with the public spending £128m in 2017 followed by jewellery (£112m), flowers (102m), and clothing or footwear (£80m). With this in mind, we decided to look into how the special day affects other behaviours and our own sales at Mens Pharmacy.

Sex

We’ve already covered how often people across the country are having sex on average, but a study by Lovehoney revealed how this frequency is affected by Valentine’s day specifically.

Of the 1,500 Brits surveyed 42% of couples say they absolutely always have sex on Valentine’s day, but a study by Gü Puds found that single people are 19% more likely to celebrate Valentine’s day between the sheets. For those deciding not to get into the lovemaking spirit the top reason given was “not in the mood”. Spoilsports.

  • 42% of couples will be having sex on Valentine’s day
  • 61% of singles are expecting sex on Valentine’s day

Spending

On average £29.89 was spent by adults celebrating Valentine’s day in 2017, though men spend almost double (roughly £40) than women (£20) on the day.

However, let’s look into how Valentine’s day affects Viagra and other ED medication spending.

  • £128m was spent on Valentine’s day in 2017
  • £29.89 was the average spend on the day
  • Men typically spend around £40 on the day compared to women at £20

Sales

At Mens Pharmacy the average order value is £48, the same price as our most popular treatment option, 16 x 100mg of Sildenafil (generic Viagra). Surprisingly though, in the run-up to Valentine’s day sales for Tadalafil increase to almost match those of Sildenafil – presumably for those deciding to spread Valentine’s celebrations out over the course of the weekend.

Mens Pharmacy year on year sees a steady increase in sales from the beginning of the year towards the end spiking gradually along the way. The two weeks before Valentine’s day, however, sees our largest sales spike in the first half of the year, only being beaten significantly by our Black Friday deals.

  • Mens Pharmacy average order is £48
  • Sildenafil 16 x 100mg is the most popular choice
  • Valentine’s day sees Tadalafil (the weekender) match Sildenafil’s popularity
  • Valentine’s day sees our ED sales’ first spike of the year, only beaten by Black Friday
  • Valentine’s day sales spike almost 10% above average

In Essence, Valentine’s day is undoubtedly a day of love, at least if you take the sale of Viagra as a clear indicator. Love can make people do some strange things, though, so we thought we’d end on a lighter note and review some of the stranger searches we’ve seen on the Mens Pharmacy site.

  1. Hard porn
  2. Is there a treatment to grow my penis
  3. Dirty woman looking for old male
  4. Dildos
  5. Cock ring
  6. Prostitute
  7. Horny pill

Some people just seem to be looking for ‘love’ in all the wrong places. Some are understandable, but others just need to find Google.
